Work/Study Program: Technical computer science

To all hackers, software tinkerers and hobby programmers: Here's your chance for the right degree program. During the dual study program in Computer Engineering at the Nordakademie in Elmshorn, you will prepare yourself for exciting topics such as robotics, smart home, automotive or medical technology. With the support of Basler, you will work at the interface between hardware and software and develop intelligent solutions.

Basler will support you in all areas of your studies - including covering the costs of your dormitory, books, transportation, etc. At Basler we only train according to our own needs, which is why we aim to employ our students after graduation. Practice phase in the company

The time in the company is what makes the dual study program unique. At Basler, we train according to demand. In addition to you main department, there are of course also assignments in a wide variety of departments. The aim is to get to know the working methods of interfacing departments. You will work independently on complex tasks and projects. You will learn to look at these projects and problems from a variety of angles and to work out solutions. This study program is not only about understanding complex topics and applying existing knowledge, but also about developing new algorithms and modeling data structures.

During your training you will be able to get to know the following areas, among others:

  • Software development
  • Hardware development
  • Embedded development
  • New technology
  • Production engineering

We also take your individual wishes into account when selecting your future department.

Studies at the Nordakademie in Elmshorn

Studying at the Nordakademie differs from other universities in that the classes are small and the professors with practical experience have enough time to answer your questions. Networking among fellow students is also easier. This study program offers you an intensive learning experience through small working groups, very modern equipment, e-learning platform and 24-hour access to the learning buildings.

Your studies are divided into 7 semesters. Each semester includes a practice phase of 13 weeks and a theory phase of 10 weeks, during which you also take your exams.

In technical computer science, you can expect the following subjects, among others:

Why technical computer science?

Even at school I really wanted to study technical computer science – while working. This is a combination that isn’t very widespread. At Basler I finally found the solution.

And why was it important to you to study while working?

What we learn at university, we can really apply in practical phases in our own projects, for example with the Azubot. This gives you an enormous added value.
